Before you start to make Child NameServers for a domain you need to make sure that the domain you are using is pointing to the nameservers for Resell.biz.  The reason for this is that your records for the Child NameServers will be created in the system here and will need to propagate.  But if the main domain is not pointing to the system here the Child NameServer records will not propagate out to the servers you select.

To create Child NameServers (Custom NameServers or Private NameServers, they are the same thing) for your domains you will first need to log into your account.  Once you are in your account use the “Jump to Domain” tool on that first page to search for the domain you’re going to use for the Child NameServers.

Set the drop-down box to “Domain Registration Service” then click the box with the arrows.  This will bring up a summary page for the domain.  On this page you’ll see some blue links going across the page, click on the link for “Child Name Servers”.

This brings up the page where you will enter the Child NameServer that you want to use.  In the “Host Name” box enter the prefix that you want to use (ns1 and ns2 is a popular way to do it).  Then enter the IP address for your nameserver in the “IP Address” box.  Once you’ve got that information entered click the “Submit” button and your name server will be registered.

The IP address that you use for these Child NameServers will be specified by your hosting company.  So you will need to talk to your hosting company to find out what IP addresses to use.

Now that you have the Glue records set up for the nameservers, you need to create A-records for these nameservers so that it can propagate to your servers’ IP addresses. On the summary page for the domain click the “DNS” tab.  Then you will have a button to either “Activate DNS” or “Manage DNS”.  If the button is Activate DNS click it and it will change to Manage DNS. After it changes you will need to click it again. This will bring up a smaller window where you have options for a few different kinds of DNS records. The system will default to the “A Record” view but if not click the “A Record” button.  Now click the “Add A Record” button.

In the “Host Name” box you will enter the same value as the Child NameServer page.  Then in the “Destination IPv4 Address” box enter the IP address that you entered for that Child NameServer.  **Make sure that you use the same IP address as you entered on the Child NameServer page.

Then click the “Add Record” button to save it. You will need to create an A-record for each Child NameServer that you create.

And you’re done. The changes will need to propagate so it can take as much as 24 to 48 hours to propagate world wide.  But most of the time it will be ready in about a day.  Once the DNS has propagated for the Child NameServers you can then use them for any domains you want to point there.
